Types of Penile Implants

The Two-Piece Inflatable Penile Implant

Inflatable Penile Implants

Inflatable penile implants offer men a more natural erection than a semi-rigid implant. They are inflated using a pump when an erection is desired and then deflated easily and concealed in the penis.

Two-Piece Inflatable Penile Implant

The two-piece inflatable penile implant, or Ambicor implant, consists of a fluid-filled pair of cylinders that are implanted in the penis along with a small pump implanted in the scrotum.

An Ambicor is a self-contained inflatable penile implant, where the reservoir is, by definition, the proximal half of the cylinder itself.  Fluid simply cycles between proximal cylinder to distal cylinder via the pump. To get an erection, you simply squeeze and release the pump several times, filling the cylinders with fluid and creating a rigid, natural erection.

Not to be confused with a semirigid implant, the Ambicor is inflatable, but there is no reservoir.  Most men find this device easy to use.
